Protection of worker’s health against crystalline silica
Results of the latest meeting in the NEPSI council
The European Network for Silica (NEPSI) Council met recently in order to discuss the developments regarding the “Agreement on Workers’ Health protection through the Good Handling and Use of Crystalline Silica and Products containing it”.
The agreement has already been translated into more than 20 official EU languages and the dissemination and advertising of the good practice guide regarding the handling and the use of silica is well underway in many of the sectors covered by the signatory parties.
The application of the agreement is becoming part of collective bargaining rounds and part of initiatives put forward by national representatives and national authorities.
At the meeting it was agreed that future reporting will be quantitative and a qualitative report will be continously updated, as the agreement is being applied in more and more sectors.
The next meeting of the NEPSI council will take place in 2008.
