Project on Restructuring Processes in the European Household Appliances Industry and the Role of EWCs (pro.HAI)

The EMF in engaged as a partner in the Project on Restructuring Processes in the European Household Appliances Industry and the Role of EWCs (pro.HAI). The project addresses the theme of restructuring in the European household appliances industry in a comprehensive manner in order to enhance the competences of the members of the EWCs, including the experts and the representatives of the national trade union federations (alongside the European Federation) which deal with the household appliances industry. It aims at examining the overall context as well as the various dimensions of restructuring and its social impacts. In this context, the project will promote the exchange of positive experiences in the field of information, consultation and participation.

Vis-à-vis the growing number of restructuring processes in the household appliances industry there is also an urgent need to promote the cooperation between trade unions and employers' associations at EU level. Therefore, the project is also aimed at contributing to the improvement of the social dialogue in the household appliances industry. The project should support the European social dialogue at company and industry level and improve the social partners' ability to anticipate changes. The fostering of the involvement of EWCs in restructuring processes and the development of the necessary competences should contribute to shared solutions aimed at a sustainable economic and social development and, thus, to the prevention and resolution of disputes in connection with restructuring processes.

The Project is co-ordinated at the Instituto per il Lavoro in Bologna (Italy).
